January Cover Shot

posted by Jenn

Wohoo! I get to be the first to post on the new blog! What an honor.

I am so excited to see our January issue in print, though, that I just had to talk about it.

The January issue is our "Technology Issue" and we've gathered votes from our readers on our website regarding the top 9 bits of technology in the Basin. We're talking about the latest technological advances in the area that are most affecting our lives today. Of course, some of the technology that makes the oilfield run was amongst the top vote getters, so we needed a cover shot of something oilfield related.

I was discussing this with my husband and he mentioned a guy he knew who worked in the oilfield that took a lot of pictures and he was just positive he'd have what we were looking for. I was soon on the phone with R. Shawn Stanley of Roosevelt and after a brief explanation of what I wanted he assured me he had just the picture I was looking for. He told me he'd email it right over.

It was, indeed, the perfect cover shot I was picturing. Michelle loved it and Christine did also and R. Shawn Stanley got his first published picture. On the cover of The Edge Magazine. Pretty cool, huh?
