Home and Garden Show 2009

OH MAN! I have been working diligently to get a lot of our web stuff updated! Once I get all caught up, it will be SO much easier, but I want to make sure that I am getting you guys all of the fun stuff we have going on!

AND WOW IS THIS SUMMER FULL OF THINGS THAT WE ARE GOING TO BE DOING! Golf Tournaments, Parades, Fairs, UBIC, Pow Wows, AND SO MUCH MORE!!!

This year's Home and Garden Show with the crew over at Eagle Country 105.5 KLCY and AM 920 KVEL was a BLAST! Here are a few of the pics that we took! There are so many amazing and highly motivated people in this area that are not afraid to go out on a limb and develop a business of their own.

OH, did I mention TALENTED?!?!? Man, the time and effort that so many of these men and women put into their goods and services was amazing! We had so much fun with all of it though!And it was such an amazing way to promote their businesses. We here at The Edge Magazine love to see growth in business community! It is wonderful!

Ok, This has to let you guys know just how CRAZY OF A LIFE WE ALL LEAD HERE AT THE EDGE! The last post we made on this blog was announcing that it was almost time for the new Feb issue AND yet, here it is nearly time for the new March issue!

THIS MONTH IS AMAZING!

Christine and I were commenting on this yesterday as we sat and slaved over those last few details in order to send the files to the printer how every month when we finish it up we think to ourselves that it just can't be better then the month we just finished and yet, somehow it ALWAYS IS!

We had so much fun this month with the cool interviews and articles that we have in the pages of this issue! We are literally scheduled out until July on our articles! IT IS AMAZING TO US ALL!

We have been asked SEVERAL TIMES when we will be adding more pages and our answer to this question is simply when we have more monthly advertising or sponsors! If you guys know of ANYONE who is looking to help support an awesome cause then we can help with that! PLEASE HAVE THEM CALL US!

We desperately want to start a youth section where children under 18 can submit original works of art, poetry, and short stories for us to publish! We are sending out this plea to ask for the community's help in this matter! Let us know if you or someone you know can help us!

Ok, not that my groveling is done, I just want to say THANKS a ton for all the positive response and love we have received from you wonderful Basin residents! KEEP IT UP AND WE WILL DO THE SAME!

YEAH! You guys should be SSSOOO excited! Jenn is right, we are going full bore to get this finished up and we are amazed at how this issue is turning out. I just finished up the layout for Jenn's Friday Nights in a Small Town article and it has some AWESOME pictures with it this month.

ALSO we are kicking off our BIG PHOTO contest that we will be holding in June! We have a bunch of catagories and all ages can sign up for it. MAKE SURE YOU START TAKING THOSE PICTURES NOW!

February Comes Together

Our February issue is coming together as we speak. Christine is burning the midnight oil, downing the Diet Cokes, and laying it all out. Fingers are furiously flying on keyboards as the rest of the writers finish up so we can submit to the printer with two weeks to spare in the month. Michelle is pushing her creative side to its limits designing some awesome ads for our customers and the smell of new print and fresh off the press paper is not far off

And it looks great so far. Christine says February is shaping up to be another fantastic issue of The Edge. Here's what we've got in store:
~Andrea has 10 hot Valentine ideas for us.
~Christine interviewed an awesome young wrestler from Uintah. What a nice kid, too! Just the kind of kid we want our boys to aspire to be.
~Malia, Jenn, and Michelle have the scoop on some local businesses who've stood the test of time and who are passing the test of being the new kid on the block in the Basin.
~and Jenn highlights yet another Friday Night hotspot.

Here's an excerpt from Jenn's article......

"I can sense the excitement before I ever step foot in the gymnasium. The air is electric with anticipation. The ground beneath me hums as the deep, bass tones of the drums vibrate upon my approach. High brass notes pierce the air as the band enthusiastically pumps out the school fight song. The musty odor of old sweat, dust and polished wood floors, mixed with buttery popcorn and hot dogs lays thick around the parking lot, trapped by the slow moving, cold, winter air. The cadence of bouncing basketballs is an unmistakable signal that this Friday night will be packed high energy, fun, and a whole lot of hometown pride."

Yay! January's issue is FINALLY here. There was a slight problem at the printer and the magazine was delayed a week, but they are here and on the shelves in stores now. Get your copy today!

WOW! The cover looks much better in print than it does on the computer. I think it looks great and I am really happy with the rest of the magazine as well. It is just so much fun to be a part of it, put it together every month and highlight the best of the Basin.

January is our Technology issue. We've highlighted 9 amazing technological advances in the Uintah Basin, including oil shale extraction, seismic imaging, the new rec center in Vernal, the technology available from UBTA-UBET Communications, Smart homes and a few other bits about the technology that affects our lives here in the Uintah Basin. It's all very interesting and
looks GREAT as well.

We also have our first installment of "The Healthy Edge" in the magazine. It's got our pictures, our stats, our goals and our quotes. Mine says, "I am fat. Some people might term it 'morbidly obese', but its much simpler just to say I'm fat." LOL blunt, honest, to the point and just so true. But not for long! Stick with us and watch us transform under the rule of Carl, our personal trainer. Read it in the pages of the magazine, read it on our blogs and follow along.
